💡 What is this feature?
Previously, when configuring a multiple-choice list, the system forced all items to be displayed on the screen, which created visual clutter and excessively long forms.
With the new update, it is possible to enable the Dropdown format for multi-value lists. This means that options are hidden in a pull-down menu and, when selected, appear consolidated as Tags/Chips within the field itself, saving crucial vertical space in complex questionnaires.
🛠️ How to configure in Lexin
To enable this format in your template, follow these steps in Lexin:
- Select the list component (static or dynamic).
- In the properties panel, go to the Response tab.
- Check the Select Multiple Values option.
- In the "List Presentation" field, select the Dropdown List option.
Upon saving the document, Lex-In will automatically record the necessary instructions for the web platform to render the component correctly.
🖱️ Questionnaire Interaction
The filling experience was designed to be intuitive and agile:
- Selection: Clicking on the field opens the dropdown menu. The user selects the desired options, which instantly appear as Tags.
- Persistence: The menu remains open after each click to allow for quick selections, closing only when clicking outside or pressing "Esc".
- Removal: To deselect an option, simply click the "X" icon on the corresponding Tag or uncheck the checkbox inside the dropdown list.
- Visualization: If there are many tags, the field expands vertically. If the space limit is exceeded, the system will display an indicator (e.g., +9) to maintain organization.
⚖️ Business Rules and Special Options
The component supports advanced behaviors to ensure data integrity:
- Select All: Located at the fixed top, it instantly selects all available items.
- Not Applicable: If selected, it clears all previous selections and marks the question as answered for mandatory purposes.
- Other: If configured, it allows for dynamic text entry if the desired option is not on the list.
- Default Values: If the template already has predefined values (lista() command), the field will start with the corresponding tags already loaded.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do selected options disappear from the dropdown list? No. They remain visible but accompanied by a checked box to indicate the current selection state.
- Is there a character limit for tags? Yes, there is a suggested limit of 360 characters total for all tags in the container to ensure performance and usability. Tags with very long text will be truncated, displaying the full content via tooltip.
